New Patients


We welcome new patients who live within our practice area. As it often takes some time for records to be forwarded from your former practice, all newly registered patients will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and are offered a consultation with a nurse.

Medical treatment is available from the date of registration. Please contact reception for further information.

The Royal College of General Practitioners has produced a useful guide for patients about the services on offer at GP Surgeries and how to access them.

If you wish to register with us on a permanent basis, you must be a resident in our practice area.

New patients must provide proof of identity and address.

Documents accepted include:


Passport, Photocard driving licence.


Utility Bill, Bank Statement, Tenancy Agreement.

How to Register

Please visit the surgery with proof of id, complete our New Patient Registration Forms and hand into reception. If you are registering a child under 16, separate forms will need to be completed. The registration will take 7 days to complete and therefore please ensure that you have enough medication for a month before leaving your current surgery.

Temporary Registration:

If you are ill while away from home and need to see a doctor, you can receive emergency treatment from a local GP practice.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be seen at a local practice but remain on your permanent GP patient list. To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

If you are visiting from abroad and need to be seen, under the Department of Health Guidance for Access to the NHS by Foreign Nationals, guidelines are given about patients receiving NHS care. Only countries with reciprocal agreements can obtain NHS healthcare. For those countries without reciprocal agreements charges for services will be made accordingly.
